UPPER FERNTREE GULLY FIRE BRIGADE
The township of Upper Ferntree Gully is situated in the foothills below the Dandenong Ranges, 35 kilometres east of Melbourne. Essentially, a suburb on the fringe of Melbourne, it sits adjacent to the southern section of Dandenong Ranges National Park. The mountains, which reach a high point of 633 metres above sea-level, consist of volcanic lava. The combination of rainfall and rich volcanic soils provides the region with fertile land that produces a lush contrast of dense forest and fern gullies.
