For radio information in the event of bushfires, tune to 774 AM
The Upper Ferntree Gully Fire Brigade has served the community since 1926. The fire station is located on the north side of Burwood Highway, just before the railway bridge (Melways map 74 F6).
All houses and the whole of Upper Ferntree Gully are protected by volunteer firefighters. We rely on your support to keep the brigade working effectively.
The Upper Ferntree Gully Fire Brigade is a Volunteer fire brigade, with all our members drawn from the local community. We're always looking for new members to join our team.

Are You Interested in joining the CFA?
Becoming a CFA Volunteer is an excellent and rewarding way to assist the community. You can develop great relationships whilst learning important life skills. You do not need experience to join the CFA, as we will provide you with all the necessary training.
Being a volunteer is not all about fighting fires - there are many support roles that help brigades and assist you in building professional skills.
The safety of our people is very important to the CFA. This means that new volunteer fire-fighters need to undertake the right training before attending fires calls, and this can take up to six months. The training is aligned with National Competency Standards so your new skills will be recognised throughout Australia, and much of it can be used in your personal and work life. Regular training is conducted on Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings.
Men and women from many walks of life are CFA volunteer firefighters and support volunteers. Volunteers include the self-employed, mothers at home, part time workers, shift workers, people looking for work, retirees, trades people and professionals.
If you're interested in joining the Upper Ferntree Gully Fire Brigade, please contact the CFA on 1800 232 636, or you're welcome to come up to the fire station on Tuesday evenings or Sunday mornings (or any time you see people there!).
House fires are caused by factors inside and outside the home. The CFA has produced a number of publications, in a printable PDF format, where you'll find information about residential house fire and bushfires. Click here for more information (opens in a new window).
The CFA, in conjunction with the MFB and Energysafe Victoria, has produced a "Check Your Hotspots" web site where you can download the winter fire safety checklist and visit the Hotspot House. If you want to keep the people you love safe this winter, please check your hotspots (opens in a new window).
